Day of the Dead Workshop

This course is suitable for beginners and adults ages 13yrs+
Celebrate vibrant and rich traditions of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) by joining our one-day workshop hand building these ceramic figurines. Participants will learn the art of creating these beautiful, colourful skeleton figures and skulls with wire and clay, each piece can then be decorated using underglazes and will be fired after the workshop.
Dia de los Muertos is an important Mexican holiday that celebrates the deceased, colourful figurines and skulls are often made out of ceramic or paper maiche that represent their loved ones. Our workshop will not only teach you the techniques of working with clay but also provide significance of this beautiful tradition.
Depending on the details of your design and decoration, you can expect to make between 2-4 figures which will be ready to collect 1-2 weeks after the session.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:
All of the tools, equipment, clay and decorating provided. We will be working with a white clay and painting with underglazes, bisque fired to 1000 degrees.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU:
Bring a apron and any additional tools you wish to use.
Lunch is not provided but there are several cafes and restaurants in the area. The beach is located directly across from the studio and if the weather is suitable is a perfect spot to have lunch and a swim in the sea.
