Ceramics Taster Sessions
Taster sessions run continuously throughout the year, they include wheel throwing and hand building and one-off sessions exploring a different technique or focusing on a specific theme.
Short courses and workshops allow students to focus on a specific technique or improve their skills, they will either be taught by one our studio teachers or a guest potter. Courses are designed specifically for age ranges to include adults, young people and families, please see age suitability for each course.
Hand Building and Wheel Throwing Taster Sessions
Saturday 15th June and Saturday 6 July
These sessions provide the opportunity to work with clay and suitable for beginners or those who want to try out a new technique. Learn the basics wheel throwing and hand building using coiling, pinching, surface decoration and slab construction.
Wheel Throwing Taster Sessions
Sunday 30th June
These sessions provide the opportunity to work with clay and suitable for beginners or those who want to try out a new technique. Learn the basics of wheel throwing and how to prepare clay, centre on the wheel and make cups, mugs, bowls and jugs.
Private and Group Taster Sessions
Check for availability
Book a group or private session for you and your friends or team away day. These sessions will be a fun day to learn both hand building and/or throwing on a potter’s wheel.
Claydates for couples and mates
Friday 24th May & Friday 28th June
3 hour wheel throwing taster sessions on Friday evenings for couples and mates. Price includes your own wheel and demonstrations. You will make 2-3 pieces that will be glazed fired and ready to collect 3-4 weeks later.
