Ceramics Taster Sessions

These sessions provide the opportunity to work with clay and suitable for beginners or those who want to try out a new technique. You will be taught the basics of how to throw on the wheel and hand building using coiling, pinching, surface decoration and slab construction.

Each class will be host up to 9 students and will be taught in a fun and relaxing environment. You can expect to have two to four pieces that will be glazed for you and ready to collect a few weeks after attending the session. The fees include all materials and the cost of two firings.

Throughout the year we off two types of adult taster sessions, combined hand building and wheel throwing or exclusively wheel throwing. In addition, special seasonal, 2 day throw and trim tasters and festive sessions focusing on a specific technique are offered and family sessions.

Wheel only sessions are 3 hours at £55.00 and combined wheel and hand building are 4 hours at £70.00.

Price includes your own wheel during the session, materials, bisque and glaze firing. You can expect to make 2-3 pieces each with your choice of glaze ready to collect 3-4 weeks after the session.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

WHAT TO WEAR / BRING WITH YOU:

We recommend to bring a full-length apron or wear some clothing you don’t mind getting dirty with shirts which you can roll up your sleeves and shoes or boots with good tread as the floors can be slippery when wet. Please trim any long fingernails and remove nail extensions to prevent them from digging into the clay.

PAYMENT / IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

You can only book a session through our online booking system or email if you need additional assistance. All sessions will be displayed here so it’s worth checking back often to see if spaces have opened up or a new sessions added.

We do not offer refunds unless cancelled 14 days prior to the date of the session, no exceptions.  If you need to cancel a session, please get in touch as soon as possible and we will do our best to fill your space from the waiting list and if we can fill your space we will offer a full refund. Your space can also be transferred to a friend or family member, just let us know.

We reserve the right to cancel taster sessions if not enough bookings and will aim to re-book your session on an alternative date or offer a refund.

We will keep your pots for 3 months after the session, we will notify you 3-4 weeks after your sessions of the dates and times, but usually Mon-Thurs 10-1 and 6-9p and most Saturday’s 10-1 during our term times. If you don’t hear from you us, please check your spam folder or get in touch. Shipping can be arranged, postage and handling fees apply.
