Workshops
Ceramic workshops run continuously throughout the year, they include wheel throwing, hand building and one-off sessions exploring a variety of techniques, methods or a theme of working with clay. Workshops provide existing and new students time to focus and improve their skills or just have fun working with clay for the first time, they are taught by one our teachers or a guest potter. In Focus Workshops are half day and affordable workshops taught by our experienced teachers. With a focus on technique and exploring new methods of working, sessions are designed for various levels of experience.

Make & Decorate Vases or Plant Pots with Underglaze Transfers

Join teacher Katia in this half-day workshop as she guides you through the process of creating beautiful slab-built vases and applying underglaze transfers. Perfect for all levels of experience this is a great opportunity to explore new ceramic techniques.

Wheel Throwing for Improvers
Three day workshop, 10am-3:30pm
Thursday 2nd, Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th April
This three-day hands-on workshop is for students who already have basic wheel-throwing experience and are ready to refine their skills, build confidence, and explore more advanced forms. The focus will be on improving technique, consistency, and understanding form through demonstrations and plenty of practice time at the wheel.
Throwing Larger with Kim Kish
One day workshop, 10am-3pm
Saturday 30th May
This one day workshop is for students with some experience in wheel throwing, with a focus on moving all the clay up to throw larger, taller and bigger forms. Confident throwers who can centre at least 1kg of clay will be suitable for this workshop.
Nerikomi Workshops
One day workshops, 10am-4pm
Saturday 18th April, 6th June, 1st August, 14th November
Join us for these one-day workshops to learn the Japanese method of stacking, slicing and combining different coloured clays together to create beautiful patterns. Suitable for all levels of experience.
Throwing Porcelain with Tanya Gomez Workshop
Two day workshop, 10am-4.30pm
Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th May
Join Tanya for this two-day workshop to learn the basic understanding of what porcelain is and allow you to experience the unique qualities of the material. Suitable for throwers with some experience.
Wheel Throwing for Beginners
Two day workshop, 10am-3pm
Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July
This is a two-day throwing workshop for absolute beginners or those who have already taken a taster sessions or new to throwing. Learn to throw, trim, add handles and spouts and surface decoration.
Porcelain Paper Clay
Two day workshop, 10am-4.00pm
Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August
We are excited to welcome back Lucy Cobb to teach this two day workshop. Made with organic flax fibres blended into the clay body, paper clay is perfect for modelling and sculptural work. Suitable for beginners and all levels of experience.
Slipware with Dylan Bowen
Two day workshop, 10am-4.00pm Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October
This two-day workshop with Dylan Bowen will introduce students to his methods of using simple hand building and wheel thrown pieces that Dylan uses as a starting point for his own work. Dylan will demonstrate how he uses slip, mainly with slip trailers but other methods to create expressive and dynamic work on his plates and sculptural forms using earthenware clay.
