Setting up your home pottery studio

This course is limited to 10 students and suitable for beginners and adults ages 18+
Whether you're new to pottery or have been working in a shared studio, this workshop will provide you with the knowledge and confidence to establish your own home ceramic studio.
With over 20 years of experience working in a home, garden shed, shared studios and the setup of St Leonards Ceramic Studio, Kim will lead you through all the essentials of setting up your own studio.
Choosing the right space and how much you might need depending on your practice as a hand builder or wheel thrower or other you can consider the essential equipment and tools, costs and safety needed for your studio.
We will discuss the purchasing and setup of your kiln, including safety and electricity requirements, how to organize your workspace and reclaim your clay and all the other tools and equipment you will need.
This workshop will also discuss glazing and what’s best for your space based on your own experience, knowledge, your practice and the facilities you have available. Cost effective ways of running your space will all be discussed and where to look for second hand or free tools and equipment.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU:
Lunch is not provided but there are several cafes and restaurants in the area. The beach is located directly across from the studio and if the weather is suitable is a perfect spot to have lunch and a swim in the sea.

Please ensure you can attend the workshop you have booked as we cannot offer refunds less than 14 days notice, unless we are able to fill your place with another student. Please get in touch and we will do our best.
